Logitech G435 | Review – Convenience as a lifestyle

Logitech G435

Playing with headphones on and wearing glasses can get tricky for many of us. If you have armed yourself with headsets of any kind, especially supra-aural or circumaural, you will surely know both the sensation of the burning pavilions and that of the temples of the glasses which, pushed by the pressure of the headphones, start to give you a headache.

This is why, when Logitech presented us with the opportunity to review its G435s, we immediately raised the antennas: we are speaking, in fact, of a product that put comfort above everything else, also thought of keeping in mind the video gamers (as specified by the manufacturer, ed) who, for obvious reasons, can get tired in less time wearing bulky headphones for hours that, simply, were not designed with them in mind.

So, looking for our next headphones that would provide comfort for long sessions, hoping to find an ideal solution for female players as well as a comfortable headset for male players, we wore our G435. And things went even better than expected.

Logitech G435: the design

The Logitech G435 headphones arrive inside a package that is not bulky at all in which we can find:

  • 1 x Logitech G435 headphones
  • 1 x dongle for connecting via Bluetooth / Lightspeed
  • 1 x USB charging / connection cable

The headphones are available in three colors – black / fluo yellow, blue / raspberry red and white / lilac, and it is the latter that we have been able to touch.

The completely recycled plastic body certainly returns the feeling of an economical, almost battle-ready product, but it is essential to guarantee the lightness of the headphones. And the result is achieved: the G435 weighs only 165 grams, a real featherweight if we think that, for example, the official Pulse 3D of PlayStation 5 weigh 295 grams, while an ultralight (and on-ear, it should be specified) frame model. naked like the Sennheiser Momentum it has a weight of 160 grams (but no microphone).

In short, the result achieved by the weight is truly surprising, and as we will see this is reflected in the experience of using headphones during gaming sessions.

The plastic headband is covered with a fabric sheath and does not have snap fasteners to lock the headphones to the desired size: simply, the height of the headband with respect to the earpads will slide to the right size as you wear them.

By the way, the padded earpads are also made of breathable fabric, but with a memory foam core, which avoid imitation leather probably because everyone knows that playing with a solution of that type in some seasons causes sometimes unmanageable heat. The spiral cable that joins the pavilions to the headband is rubberized and is offered in a color matched to that of the chosen headset.

Finally, on the left pavilion, there are the power button, the volume rocker and the button that mutes the microphone – through which you can also activate the manufacturer’s Lightspeed technology for minimum latencies, if you prefer. There is also a USB-C port for charging the device or for wired use with the supplied cable.

Also in this case, to facilitate comfort and reduce bulk, the integrated microphone has no retractable arm: actually, there are two, and they are set inside the left pavilion, from which they emerge through small slits.

Despite the very small solution, the results are very good considering that you will use it for in-game voice chat or for direct gameplay, and certainly not to make voice-over on videos of particular refinement: if that were the purpose, in fact, you would have the wrong microphone (but also niche, because it is not in the headphones of any brand that you will find what you need).

Like not wearing them, but they feel (only in the good way)

Once you have unpacked all the unpackable and put on the Logitech G435, the surprise is felt. Personally, we came from another model of extreme comfort (the most comfortable headphones I’ve ever had up to now, ed), namely the wired Logitech G Pro: the feeling, wearing the G435, was that of having found the heirs, even if giving up a little bit of elegance and design.

The headphones are in fact extremely comfortable and you will forget you are wearing them, even if you play video games with glasses. With other gaming headsets, in fact, it often happens that the temples of your glasses are pressed in an annoying way by the “grip” of the headphones: this is not the case and even in longer sessions we could have continued to play without feeling forced to disconnect because our ears were on fire.

Surprisingly, lightness also manages to match good audio quality for this product category: don’t expect crystal clear audiophile sounds, of course, but the gaming audio emitted by the 40mm drivers is clean and enjoyable – and you can also hear a certain directionality. In this regard, the headphones support both Dolby Atmos and Windows Sonic, with an emphasis on the importance of surround.

The final result of all these features is a sound experience that knows how to be appreciated and does not make you regret more full-bodied and heavier drivers.

It must be said, on the other hand, that the use of the controls on the left pavilion is not exactly comfortable (we happened to press the shutdown while trying to increase the volume), because the buttons are placed exactly between the lower and the rear part, making not very agile to reach them – also because of their length.

On the other hand, the connection to the consoles is very convenient: by inserting the USB dongle on the PS5, the Logitech G435 immediately communicated with the console, just like the original headphones. You can do the same on a PC equipped with Bluetooth or, alternatively, you can use them through the supplied USB cable (or through Lightspeed).

Despite the lightness, Logitech’s promise of a long-lasting battery is also confirmed as real: nominally, the manufacturer speaks of eighteen hours of playback and this is actually the threshold, so you won’t have to worry too much about being left out of the blue on foot by yours. G435.

Ultimately, in short, the goal announced by Logitech has been achieved: its G435s manage to remain very light, they are also comfortable for the gamers to whom they are partly addressed (but not only to them), but they do it without sacrificing too much in terms. of audio (indeed) or in terms of battery. On the other hand, of course, the design is not the triumph of robustness and you will always have the feeling of having an object on your hands much cheaper than what you paid for it – the list price is around 80 euros at the moment. However, if this is the compromise to play in comfort while still enjoying the audio on headphones, for us it is yes.

Logitech G435 review

The Logitech G435 headphones are the perfect solution for those looking for good audio quality but don’t want to sacrifice comfort. Long gaming sessions wearing headphones can become excruciating (even more so if, like us, you play with glasses and headphones press on the temples, squeezing the pavilions), but with the G435 you will barely notice it. Furthermore, the variety of designs and colors meets the most diverse tastes: despite the economical look, in short, we are talking about a highly reliable solution dedicated above all to those who get tired of wearing a bulky and burdensome headset.

PROS

  • Extraordinarily comfortable and light
  • Amazing audio quality
  • You can also wear them with glasses without suffering!
  • They adapt to different heads without too much difficulty …

CONS

  • … but some may not like the lack of a size adjustment latch
  • Very inexpensive materials to the touch
